I began my career in newspaper photography in 1973 with my first ever publication in the Barrhead Pictorial. The picture was of a fire in Gladstone Avenue and I received the handsome cheque of 'One Pound'!
Undeterred by this meagre payment I submitted a picture to the Barrhead News and was invited to meet the editor Alice Craig. She was in need of a regular photographer and with her encouragement I decided to go full time as a freelance.
I went on to contribute to other publications including the South Side News, the Mercury, Renfrewshire Gazette, Govan Press, Flourish and the Gryffe Weekly News.

I was subsequently offered daily assignments with The Scotsman and the newly launched Scotland on Sunday before accepting a staff position with the group in Glasgow in 1989.
Now retired, I'm busy scanning the negatives from the vast archives of historic photographs and publishing them on this web site.
