Description: The Royal Oak in Main Street, Barrhead closed its doors for the last time in the Autumn of 1978 prior to being demolished to make way for the new dual carriageway. It was owned by local publican Hugh Nicol who owned a few pubs in the area and was a director of the nightclub, Dalearn House for a while. Some Barrheadonians have contributed a few names. The Barman is Jimmy McGorran, the gent in the white coat is Aldo Ridolfi of the Prego fish restaurant and sitting are Andy and George Pollock.
